After graduating from the Pretoria Technicon (Now known as the Tshwane University of Technology) with a Higher Diploma in Theatre Technology in 1998, Dewet Meyer was employed as assistant production designer at an international production design firm in Johannesburg. There he had the opportunity to work on international projects such as floorshows in Korea, musical revue extravaganzas in Australia and many local multi camera special broadcasting events, which included a Miss South Africa Pageant, Kora Awards, Sama Awards and the international Indian Film awards.
During the latter of 2002 he started trading as an independent production and audio visual designer and founded the close corporation Darkwing Projects CC which trades under the name JDMUnlimited and continued specialising in television, audiovisual and special broadcast event production design.
Over the past 11 years Dewet Meyer has established himself and his firm as an esteemed and highly acclaimed production and audiovisual designer in South Africa. He has designed the stages and visual elements for many national and internationally broadcasted television productions and special broadcasts which will forever form part of the proud South African television history, the Miss World broadcasts and FIFA draw ceremonies are but to name a few. He recently received the TPSA designer of the year award and was featured in the AV specialist magazine and interviewed on All Access in respect of his designs for the current Idols production
